As I’m sure you’ve all noticed by now, BT Sport are only showing 3 of the 6 Premiership games each weekend. However, what you might not know is the other 3 games are being fully recorded and broadcast around the world, just not to the biggest audiences in the UK and Ireland.
Read on to find out how you can watch every game, potentially even saving money in the process.
The two main providers, showing every Premiership game, are Stan Sports in Australia and Peacock Premium (part of NBC), in the USA. Normally these are geoblocked so you can’t access them from outside the intended country – but there's a way around this for Stan. Personally I've not been able to get Peacock to work properly in the UK, so my recommendation would be to use Stan.
In order to access Stan, you’ll need to use a VPN. For those not up to speed, that means a Virtual Private Network. It shows your network as if you're anywhere in the world, so in this case, set it to Australia and you can access Stan like any Australian can.
Not all VPNs are created equally though, and some are unable to get behind the geoblock. For example, trying with VPN Unlimited allowed me to sign up to Stan, but then wouldn’t actually let me watch the content.
I use NordVPN and it works perfectly, it’s available for only a few quid a month depending on your plan. You can take a look here.
Stan Sport is an add-on to a Stan plan. The basic plan starts at $10 AUD a month, allowing you to watch on one screen at a time in standard definition. $14 AUD gets your 3 screens at a time and HD. Then on top of this you need to add the sport package, which is fixed at $10 AUD a month, regardless of Stan plan.
Stan have a lot of rugby, including large back catalogues. They show The Rugby Championship, Currie Cup, Super Rugby and lots more.
So the minimum cost for Stan Sport is $20 AUD, which is around £11 a month. They also have a 30 day free trial!
Peacock is definitely the cheapest option if you’re only after the Premiership. It’s just $4.99 a month, or about £3.60.
However, I’ve not been able to get the payment working, using both PayPal and my debit card. If it works for anyone let me know, but for now I’m sticking with Stan.
Let me know how you all get on!
